Minutes of the MLIA Annual Meeting July 9, 2005

The meeting was held at the Silver Creek Township Hall and called to order by President Kay Dukesherer at 9:07 AM EDT.  Board members present were President, Kay Dukesherer, Vice President Craig McCoy, Treasurer Dick Morey, Board Member Dick Stauffer, and Secretary Bill Boehnlein.  According to the sign in sheet 51 people attended this meeting.

Bill Boehnlein read the minutes of the previous annual meeting of July 10, 2004.  Dick Morey motioned for acceptance of the minutes, Dick Stauffer seconded and the minutes were approved as read.

Kay Dukesherer announced that Vice President Bob Ausra had resigned for health reasons and Bill Saunders has agreed to take his position as Vice President representing Silver Creek Township.  Bill was present at this meeting as well. 

Dick Morey  read the Treasurer's Budget Report.  The report read as follows:

Bill Boehnlein motions to accept this budget report, Craig McCoy seconded and the report was approved by acclamation.

Bill Boehnlein gave a membership status report that shows that we currently have 147 members that renewed for 2005.  There are 98 active members from 2004 that have not yet paid their 2005 dues.  Kay expressed concern that additional expenses may be incurred to solicit these outstanding dues.  Another reminder will be placed in the next newsletter. 

Craig McCoy reported that Keeler Township has adopted a new zoning ordinance that is much more extensive that the previous one.  Copies are available at the Township hall at a cost of $15.00.  Bill Kays, the Keeler Township Supervision noted that there were no changes to any of the property setback requirements.

Bill Saunders, the newly appointed Vice president for Silver Creek Township, noted that there is a millage vote on August to support the fire and ambulance programs and asked for membership support of that vote.  He also noted that Silver Creek Township is becoming much more proactive in the removal of blight in the township.

Kay Dukesherer then introduced the guests who are planned to participate in an issues discussion following the regular business meeting.  Bill Kays was introduced as both the Keeler Township Supervisor and the Township Assessor for both Silver Creek and Keeler Townships.  Bill sunders was introduced as the Silver Creek Township Supervisor.  Bill Riley, The Marine Patrol Supervisor for Cass County was not present but it was later learned that there was a miscommunication in the date of the meeting which resulted in his absence.

Following these introductions Kay noted that these guests will be available after the formal meeting to address specific issued and a motion for adjournment was requested.  Bill Boehlein submitted the motion and Dick Morey seconded.  The motion passed and the formal business meeting was adjourned at 9:48 AM.
